A panel discussion will coincide with Shifting, exploring how African American women artists address the female gaze. This panel discussion will be moderated by Professor Lisa Farrington, Chair of the Department of Arts and Music at John Jay College, NYC. The panel will feature the following scholars: Elsa Barkley Brown, Associate Professor of History and Women’s Studies and Affiliate Faculty in African American Studies and American Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park; Kirsten Pai Buick, Ph.D., Associate Professor of the Department of Art and Art History in the College of Fine Arts at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque; Kelli Morgan, Winston & Carolyn Lowe Curatorial Fellow for Diversity in the Fine Arts at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia; Deborah Willis, Ph.D. University Professor and Chair of the Department of Photography & Imaging at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, NYC
