Panel Discussion: Posing Beauty in African American Culture

David C. Driskell Center for the Visual Arts and Culture of African Americans and the African Diaspora Thursday, March 7, 2019 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

The panel discussion will be held in conjunction with the exhibition, Posing Beauty in African American Culture. The goal of the panel is to provide an opportunity for our audience to hear experts engage in dialogue about representations of African American beauty. The panel discussion will be lead and moderated by Professor Curlee R. Holton, the Driskell Center’s Executive Director. Panelists: Professor Deborah Willis, curator and Chair of the Department of Photography and Imaging at Tisch School of the Arts of New York University, Professor Maxine Craig from the University of California, Davis, and Professor John H. Brown from the University of Maryland’s Philosophy Department.
