Organized by The Amistad Center for Art & Culture at Wadsworth Antheneum Museum of Art in Hartford, CT, with curators Lisa Henry, M.A. and W. Frank Mitchell, Ph.D., this showcase includes 94 pieces of art depicting various aspects of African American history, culture and lifestyles. This exhibition includes a range of artists from pioneer Augustus Washington and Harlem Renaissance man Roy DeCarava to contemporary artists, including Oakland’s Lewis Watts, and distinguished female photographer Carrie Mae Weems.
