David C. Driskell Center for the Visual Arts and Culture of African Americans and the African Diaspora
In celebration of the centenary of the Rosenwald Fund (aka the Rosenwald Foundation/the Julius Rosenwald Fund)–which supported education for African Americans primarily in the rural South and provided fellowship grants directly to African American artists, writers, researchers and intellectuals between 1928 and 1948–the David C. Driskell Center will screen selections from Rosenwald, the new documentary by filmmaker Aviva Kempner. These selections focus on artists Jacob Lawrence, Langston Hughes, and Augusta Savage. Following the screening, there is a discussion with Professor David C. Driskell and filmmaker Aviva Kempner, among others.
