Branford Marsalis: Pre-performance Discussion

Distinguished saxophonist Branford Marsalis to join in conversation with David C. Driskell

This conference is held in collaboration with the Art Program at the University of Maryland University College, and will include several sessions that reflect on the exhibition entitled Convergence: Jazz, Films, and the Visual Arts: "Influence of the Visual Arts on Jazz"; "Influence of Jazz on the Visual Arts”; and “The Interactions of Dance, Film, Visual Arts, and Poetry with Jazz.” The conference will host presentations on jazz and visual arts by scholars of film, dance, and poetry, as well as a closing performance by Branford Marsalis. The conference will be held in the Stamp Student Union at the University of Maryland, College Park. The closing of the conference will feature a conversation between Professor David C. Driskell and Saxophonist Branford Marsalis, as well as a performance by Branford Marsalis. Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, 7-10PM
