Floyd Coleman to discuss the legacy of African American art scholarship and more with David C. Driskell

Floyd Coleman is an artist and a scholar of African American Art and Art History. He has published on a variety of subjects, including African American murals, Elizabeth Catlett, jazz and the African American artist, and art at historically black colleges and universities. Coleman has also been featured in over 20 solo exhibitions since his first solo exhibition at a commercial gallery in 1963. He is a Professor Emeritus of Art History at Howard University in Washington, DC, and was the organizer of the annual James A. Porter Colloquium on African American Art for over 20 years. Coleman will speak with David C. Driskell about subject matters ranging from the Porter Collection, the legacy of scholarship of African American Art, the legacy of James Porter, and more.
