2022 Driskell Student Excellence Award

Marina La Verde, Class of 2023, is the recipient of the Driskell Center Student Excellence Award. She has been an undergraduate student employee since 2019.

Established in 2021 by the Driskell Center staff, the award honors and celebrates outstanding student employees for their hard work and dedication. In addition to recognition, the awardee receives $500. 

La Verde's contribution to all facets of the Driskell Center's operation has been exemplary. She is always a welcoming presence in the gallery for students, faculty, and the broader community, and has been integral to the success of events held at the Center. Her dedication, experience and collegiality have made her a leader among her fellow students and a valued team member to staff. Moreover, through her hard work and dedication to long term projects in the Center's Library and Archives, she has helped to fulfill the Center's mission to expand access to the rich history of the visual arts of African Americans and the African diaspora.
