During spring 2016, the David C. Driskell Center will launch a four-part series titled the Collector’s School at the Driskell Center. The purpose of this series is to provide training and education for new collectors about the lifetime process of building an art collection. The school will focus on collecting African American art, however the advice and skills presented may be used by anyone interested in collecting art and supporting the arts. The Collector’s School is being developed with the help of Lynn Sylvester, a Driskell Center Ambassador, with assistance from the Center’s staff. Session topics include: Introduction to the World of Collecting, Understanding the Business of Art, Managing Your Collection, and Deaccessioning and Estate Planning.
