How will the Taft Museum of Art follow Star Power, its anticipated fall look at vintage glamour photography?

With three newly announced touring exhibits that fill the museum’s calendar in 2013, that’s how. All three trace aspects of the development of American art and society.

African American Art Since 1950 examines the contributions of established and contemporary artists; American Daguerreotypes captures everyday life in the mid-19th century; and 19th Century American Art looks at what Americans were thinking about – domestic concerns but also the struggle over slavery and the plight of the American Indian.

Feb. 15-April 28, 2013 – African American Art since 1950: Perspectives from the David C. Driskell Center: Approximately 60 works – paintings, sculpture, prints, collage, photography, and mixed media – look at the evolving range of expression of African-American artists since the mid-20th century.
