David C. Driskell Center Archives Display

The David C. Driskell Center Archives was established in 2011 when David C. Driskell donated his papers to the Driskell Center. The Driskell Papers are the backbone of the Driskell Center Archives which also include the Faith Ringgold Study Room and the Dr. Robert E. Steele Archive.

The papers of artist, scholar, curator, collector, and philanthropist David C. Driskell focus mainly on his relationship to African American art, documenting the evolution of African American art as a practice and field of study as well as Professor Driskell’s personal life.

This display showcases highlights from the Driskell Papers including letters, photographs, and journal entries. The Driskell Papers and all archival collections at the Driskell Center are available for viewing by appointment. For more information, see our website athttp://driskellcenter.umd.edu/collection/index.php.
